Spain's EU Blue Card & HQP: Lower 2026 Salary Thresholds

What's new in 2026: Spain has published updated salary thresholds for the Tarjeta Azul-UE (EU Blue Card) and the HQP/PAC specialist route (Ley 14/2013). The good news — the reduced threshold is just €33,085.09 per year instead of higher figures in years past.

If you work in a shortage occupation, graduated within the last three years, or hold a managerial role, you qualify for this lower threshold. Instead of needing €41,356.36, you can get a visa with €33,085.09 annually. In practice, this is the path for the vast majority of applicants who properly document their profile. General threshold: €41,356.36 per year — applies if your profession is not on the shortage list and you don't fit other qualifying categories.

Reduced threshold: €33,085.09 per year — applies if you fall into one of these categories:

• Recent graduates — you obtained your higher education degree within the last 3 years
• Managerial roles — you hold a management or executive position
