Which document do you currently hold?

Use the residence-authorisation expiry shown on your TIE card or in your UGE decision.

Use the expiry date printed on the visa itself. Your next step is a first residence application, not a renewal.

Everything is calculated in your browser. Your date is never uploaded or stored.

General information, not legal advice. Check both the date and the document type — a visa expiry and a TIE expiry are not the same thing.

Questions about the filing window

Filing early, filing late, and the difference between a visa and a card.

Exactly 60 calendar days before the expiry date on your residence authorisation. The Ministry's own renewal sheet sets that window for Law 14/2013 permits. An application submitted before the window opens is not accepted, so the date matters.

Yes, for 90 calendar days. Article 76.3 of Law 14/2013 accepts a renewal filed in that period and keeps your authorisation valid until UGE decides. Filing late can open a separate penalty procedure, so use those 90 days only if you have to.

No. It is a first residence application, and you must file it in the 60 calendar days before the visa expires. There is no 90-day grace period here. Once the visa lapses you are no longer legally resident and this route closes.

No. Filing extends your current status until a decision is issued. The legal deadline for that decision is 20 working days, and silence counts in your favour — you can request a positive-silence certificate once the deadline has passed.

No. The general immigration regulation uses a window of 2 months before expiry and 3 months after. Law 14/2013 applications go to a separate unit under separate guidance, and the 60/90 pair is what applies there.

Calendar days. The 60-day and 90-day figures count every day, weekends and public holidays included. The 20-day decision deadline is the only figure on this page counted in working days.

Filing keeps your authorisation valid until a decision, and a renewal filed within 90 days of expiry is still accepted.

Spanish original

«La presentación de la solicitud de renovación prorrogará la validez de la autorización hasta la resolución del procedimiento. También se prorrogará en el supuesto en que la solicitud se presentara en los noventa días posteriores a la finalización de la anterior autorización.»

Filing the renewal application extends the validity of the authorisation until the procedure is resolved. It is likewise extended where the application is filed within the 90 days following the expiry of the previous authorisation.
